Grab your family and friends and join us this weekend, March 22-24, at NOLA in Avondale, Louisiana for a weekend of racing.

As the racers start to arrive in Avondale, Louisiana for the first race of the season; anticipation begins to build. As each racer works to complete the final touches to their Triumph Thruxton they start to prepare mentally for thrilling race ahead. They imagine the stress and excitement as they work their way to the front of the line, the way the tires feel on the asphalt as they push their motorcycles to their limit in hope to get one position closer to the finish line. It’s an adrenaline filled experience that a racer will never forget.

Have you ever dreamed of racing your Triumph Thruxton? Well now is your chance! The American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) has a spec class called the Thruxton Cup TransAtlantic Challenge created specifically for the Triumph Thruxton. Prior to the Barber Vintage Festival, the Triumph Thruxton we built for season two of Café Racer TV was on display at a handful of AMA events and after Barber the British Customs Café Racer is set to kick off it’s nationwide dealer tour at Freedom Powersports of Georgia along with the British Customs “Back To Basics” Triumph Bonneville.

With the schedule set, British Customs packed up two sets of race body work, a load of extra parts for the Thruxton Cup racers and the “Back To Basics” British Customs Bonneville and headed out to Birmingham, AL.
We arrived Friday evening meet up with our friends at Triumph Motorcycles to grab our event credentials.  In the lobby we ran into Paul Runion, Nadine DeFreitas, Jason DiSalvo and Bethany DiSalvo, who greeted us with a smile and beer.  After sharing stories and getting to know the team we decided it was time to head to the race paddocks.   What a start to the weekend!

On August 5, 2011, the world of motorcycle road racing lost one of its most iconic and celebrated champions in Gary Nixon.

For one week only, starting Friday, July 27, visit eBay to bid on the one-of-a-kind Gary Nixon replica leathers, helmet, pit shirt and Daytona 675R bodywork, as used by Team Latus Motors Racing at the 2012 Daytona 200. Fully approved by the Nixon family, 100% of the auction proceeds go to the Gary Nixon Memorial Fund. Set up specifically to help aspiring racers fulfill their dreams, the Gary Nixon Memorial Fund is a fitting continuation of the racing spirit that Gary Nixon lived every day of his life.

To honor the memory of Nixon, on March 12, 2012, AMA Pro Road Racer Jason DiSalvo took the grid at the Daytona 200 wearing specially-designed Gary Nixon replica leathers and helmet. His Team Latus Motors Racing Daytona 675R also featured custom Gary Nixon replica paint and graphics, inspired by Nixon’s 1967 Daytona 200-winning Triumph 500. Even the Team Latus pit crew got in the act, sporting crew shirts styled after those worn by the 1960s Nixon Triumph teams.

Despite grueling heat and a crowded field, DiSalvo ran an extraordinary race that day, making up nearly 26 seconds in only 25 laps and ultimately finishing second in a photo finish. DiSalvo was quoted after the race as saying the memory of Nixon was with him the whole way, pushing him to the finish line.
