How to Remove Triumph Street Twin Rear Wheel

Knowing how to remove your own rear wheel will save you a lot of money whenever you need to get a new rear tire or sprocket and chain. It isn't difficult to do, nor does it take much time, but make sure you have a torque wrench for when you reinstall everything!


  • Triumph Street Twin

Tools required:

  • Jack
  • 1 1/6" wrench

Total time the job takes:

  • 10 minutes


  • Intermediate

Step 1

Place a jack underneath bike and lift the rear of the motorcycle.

Step 2

Remove rear axle nut with 1 1/6” socket wrench.

Step 3

Pull rear axle out of wheel, and remove axle adjuster spacer.

Removal complete!

Push rear wheel forward and lift chain off rear sprocket. Make sure rear brake rotor is free of the rear brake caliper.

Note: Make sure when reinstalling rear wheel to torque rear axle nut to 85 Nm and adjust chain to specified tension.
